Playdates in Happy Valley

We have just relocated to Hong Kong from NYC with our 7 month old baby boy. We're based in Happy Valley and would love to get together with moms and babies either in the Valley or nearby in Central, Wanchai, etc.

Hi ladies,

We will be moving to Happy valley from Canada with a 6 month old baby girl (and 3 year old who will be going to school) at the end of the month. I would love to to join any playgroup in the area.

Hello to all,

First of all I have to apologize to all the ladies who replied to me! I have been in Hong Kong for 2.5 months and have been out of commission trying to get us sorted out. I had trouble obtaining my ID (got it last week) and it took forever for me to get a cell phone or access to internet at all. We just received our shipment so I finally have access to my computer as of last week. (yay!) I am also still waiting for a helper, so between drop off and pick up of my 3.5 year old and I had very little down time. In any case, helper should be here this weekend or next week, so all should get sorted very shortly.

All this to say that I would love to finally start a playgroup in our area! Zoe and I are ready to go and looking forward to meeting some other mamas and their babes. Zoe will be 9 months next week.

(Oh and Hi Jo - thank you for reminding me to get this going. Bad Lil)

Fantastic Lil! My little girl is actually 9 months next week also...must have very close birthdays (24 Jan is hers) and she was very nearly called Zoe as well...
Anyway, thanks for responding...I am going through many of the same trials that it sounds like you have already been through. I would LOVE to pick your brain as well as get our babies together for a play. My schedule is pretty much wide open as I have only been here 1.5 weeks...
Name your day and time and I will be there.... Where is a good place to meet? I know there is that indoor soft play area near the HSBC building in Happy Valley. Perhaps there?
 
Wow - very close birthdays indeed. Zoe's birthday is January 25th! I can't believe how quickly time is passing.

Welcome to Hong Kong! You'll get settled here pretty quickly. I personally love the city and Happy Valley as a place to call home.

Jo - you are a woman of action. I like it.

10 am on Monday should work for Zoe and I. I am expecting an Ikea delivery that day - and I can't recall the time at this point but I think it shall be ok. (Can't wait for my helper to get here!!)

Sorry about that... I got a bit excited about meeting some mums and didn't realise you were also sending a message out...oops.

Yes I agree with you, Happy Valley is a great spot. Nice villag-ey feel to it and stroller friendly too!!

I will have my 3.5yo daughter with me on Monday as I haven't sorted out school for her yet. Would love to pick your brain about that actually. When is her birthday? Sounds like our girls are very similar ages. Eve is 4 on Feb 16.

Oh yes, it is perfect for babies to wriggle/crawl around. The room is made of soft spongey mats so the babies can play without hurting themselves. There are vinyl covered foam shapes for the babies to climb/sit on as well.
Unfortunately there is no coffee shop there for us Mums but we can always get a coffee afterwards if people are keen. Classified is only just around the corner...
 
Sounds great! Really excited to meet other mamas. No offense taken for making the arrangements. Makes it much easier. Hope everyone can make it. For those of you who can't make it, we will arrange another meeting. We could even try for a weekend to accommodate those of you who work during the day. Will PM my contact if I can figure out how to "reply to all..".

Jo: Eve is actually pretty close in age to my Nyala. She will be 4 on boxing day. (Makes for a busy Christmas season, and so difficult to have a party for the poor thing). School has been a nightmare to figure out. Have you tried Woodlands Montessori yet? I've heard good things about them. I won't be much help because Nini is going to school in French. (We could try to have her and Eve meet perhaps - she is on vacation starting on the 24th).
 
Hi Mums! Am in the HV area as well (bit more of a long-timer than most of you) with a nearly 17 month old boy. Would love to meet up sometime as well, but usually only weekends work for me as work full time during the week. Be great to arrange a weekend play date and meetup!
 
Dear all

I would love to join your Monday gathering but unfortunately, I am out of town now. I have made arrangements to meet with one of the moms on Thursday 10am. Please let me know if you all will be interested to do it the second time in a week.

I am a local here so have in mind a place where there is a playroom for infants and also we can head for coffee afterwards (if you don't mind paying $30-80 for this activity). Please let me know if you are in so we can do a headcount.

Can i join you on Monday as well? I have a just turned 6month old son, we wont be able to stay too long as I need to collect his brother and sister at 11.30 but would love my little one to have some friends of his own and not just not dragged around with his siblings!
