pimples under the eye area

Dear all,
I need help, my son 3 and 1/2 year old has a pimple near the eye area, it has been there for 2 weeks, first I thought it will just go away, but up to now, it didn't, whenever he cries, it just got swollen, today I take him to see our family doctor and he prescribed him with vanmycetin eye oint, he told me to put it 2 times a day in his eyes, has anyone got any experience with this, I'm not sure if it is ok to put or not in a toddler's eyes.

Second, the doctor said if it doesn't turn better, he may need an operation, so it's quite worrying for me

anyone got any advice?
 
Might be a Stye nothing to worry about, very common, apply the eye ointment given by doctor religiously. Its perfectly ok to put anti bacterial or antibiotic drops/ ointments in the eye of a toddler, what choice do you have, HAVE to treat the problem, right? Don't touch it and tell your son not to rub it. My 4 month old baby had a bacterial infection in the eye and the doctor gave ointment and drops, got better in 3- 4 days.

I've checked, it's chalazia. and I've applied the ointment given by the doctor, he didn't give any drops . But it's quite hard, hope it will go away,and not getting bigger anymore.
