PGD/IVF treatment

Hi ? I?m moving from UK to HK in the New year with my husband and I wondered if anyone could share any information regarding PGD / IVF treatment options in Hong Kong.
After 4 miscarriages and some thorough tests carried out a Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic, we have discovered that my husband has a Chromosome Translocation which is increasing the risk of miscarriage. One of the options offered to us is to have PDG (Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis) which is similar to IVF. Has anyone had this treatment in Hong Kong and if so, can you recommend who we could get in touch with to discuss the procedure (and cost!)?

Try calling Dr Philip Ho at the Well Woman Clinic Tel: 2899 2293. Ask to talk to Kelly his head nurse who speaks extremely good English and is very kind and generally great. I am not sure whether he offers the PGD screening, but he is one of the few real specialists here in HK in IVF and fertility treatments. We have found him extremely professional and helpful and went through several rounds of IUI last year at his clinic.

Others who come recommended, but I can't speak for personally, are Dr Derek Chan and Dr Milton Leung or Dr Alex Doo. I think many of the doctors here use the Sanatorium Hospital in Happy Valley to do the actual treatments.

There is also a doctor at Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin called Chris Haines who is an expert in fertility treatments and accepts patients privately as well as through the public system. Sorry I don't have the details, but you can find them online. I think it's very likely that they will offer the PGD screening.

I would also suggest contacting Dr Philip Ho. He is a very experienced fertility specialist who is affiiliated with Hong Kong Sanitorium's IVF Centre. The IVF Centre's embryologists do offer PGD. Here's a link for more info: Reproductive Health (IVF)

the embryologists are very good.

as for cost, i would imagine it is on par with PGD at any of the better known clinics across the United States in the bigger cities.

Thank you all for your recommendations - this information is very much appreicated. I will certainly be contacting Philip Ho when we move to HK in the New Year.

It's all very nerve-wracking (especially as we are move to a new country and I have had such great advise and support here in London) and so it is fantastic to have some contact information for specialists who are experienced in fertility treatments.
