Pediatrician in Sai Kung

there is dr siu across from the mcdonald's.

however, we've only used her once as she's very expensive. we usually go to dr. loo (he's a gp but very good with both of my kids). i would only go to a ped if absolutely necessary.

Doctor in Sai Kung

Hi Carang - do you live in Sai Kung? We have just moved there (Tsam Chuk Wan) with my twins of 28 months old. Which doctors do you use in Sai Kung for your kids? I used to go to Central but it's now too far. We have a car so can drive to Shatin or Ma On Shan if there are good doctors there. We mainly need a good English speaking one for children.

Also, you mention Dr Siu - how much does he/she charge? And do you have their number?

On a different topic - are there any outdoor playground areas in SK for kids?

Thanks v. much

Amy

hi amy,
i live about 10 minutes further out than you, in the country park.

we generally use DR. Loo. He's very good and my kids remember him. Dr Siu, i've only been to once. she's MUCH more expensive and she tends to talk to you with her eyes closed. that kind of freaked me out a bit. she seems to be very nice and knows her stuff, but i couldn't tell if she was just bored by talking to me (fair enough) or what was going on... then i read on geoexpat that she does it with everyone! maybe it's a nervous thing, but like i said, it kind of freaked me out, so we haven't been back. Dr Loo is next to the Duke of York (i think?) pub. Dr Tong is there too. we have used him in the past for hubby and i, don't think i've taken the kids to him... can't remember. he's a little cheaper than Loo and ok... i just prefer Loo if possible.

outdoor playgrounds.... there is one near the swimming pool (which is great! going again on sunday with my two monsters!). that playground is fairly large and split into 3 areas. 2 separate playgrounds and then a swing set. beware that saturdays and sundays are CRAZY busy.

there is another playground across from the gov't clinic, near ali ole bakery. if you have a car, there is also a small playground just inside the country park gate. you cannot drive into the park unless you have permission (which i can give you, but you have to call me with your licence # and then i have to call the park management, then you have to fill in a form) but you really don't need to drive right up to the playground. you can park at the gate and then walk in. it's a small playground and only busy on weekends, during the week it is eerily quiet.

if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I use Dr Siu and she is excellent.
Even though she specialises in pediatrics, I also use her as a GP for myself, and she is incredibly thorough.

Yes she does do that weird thing where she closes her eyes sometimes when she talks! You get used to it, it seems to be when she's concentrating and trying to think of info.

Not sure how much she charges as our insurance covers it.

Her number is 2792 1601.
