Part-time or as needed helper

Hi, we just moved to HK and not ready for a full time helper yet. But we would like to get someone to watch our daughter for a date night or when we are running errands. Does anyone know how to find helper as needed basis?

it is illegal to hire a part-time foreign domestic helper on a FDH visa. in order to do this legally, you need to find someone on a dependent visa or who is a permanent resident.

otherwise, you may want to make use of merry maids for cleaning.... baby sitting? maybe rent-a-mum?

Ask around at your / your husband's workplace. Many expats let their helpers do outside work for a little extra cash, and I think the helpers appreciate it, too. In our office, we're always trading tips about PT helpers among ourselves. I used one, recommended by a workmate, once a week for 3 years, and she was great.
