Part-Time Nanny

New member
Hi everybody,

I have just arrived in Hong Kong with my husband and two girls (3.5 years and 3 months). As we do not want a full-time domestic helper living with us, we are looking for a part-time nanny/baby-sitter to allow us to go out. Ideally the nanny/baby-sitter would help us once to twice a week for a few hours only. Can someone help me to find a reliable and experienced help like that? Thank's very much, Myl?ne (MCM)

Looking for part-time nanny...

Hello, we're new to HK and live in MidLevels Central area, and we are looking for a reliable, child-loving part-time nanny. We have one son who's 3 and one daughter who's 1. My son is special needs, but he is really loveable and sweet-natured. He can not walk yet but is very mobile by crawling and plays well with others and by himself. My daughter is very active, fun and playful. If you think that the nannys you have in mind would be interested in meeting our family, we would be happy to set up an interview.

Part-time Nanny Needed and evening babysitters...

 I forgot to mention that we are interested in someone who's available 3-4 hours, 2-3 times a week during the day, so I can run errands outside the home with one child or alone. Also, looking for someone interested in babysitting on Friday or Saturday evenings. Interested candidates can reply to [email protected]

part time nanny

Hi,

.. yes, i think she would be interested. If you want, you can give me a call and we can discuss it better and then meet up during the next couple days. I have a two and a half year old daughter and was also a special needs teacher back in the States. i have sent my phone number on your private message... maybe we can meet up for coffee one day and/or introduce the kids...
talk with you soon, Alessandra

There is an excellent nanny agency in HK that places full or part time expat nannys.
The website seems to be having a revamp (www.rentamum.com.hk) and doesn't seem to be working.
The woman who runs the agency is Shirley Robinson and her number is 2523 4868.

Rent-a-mum

I tried to use them as I'm staying in HK for a couple of months for biz. But I found out that they're XXXX expensive!!!

Probably it would fit for some mums who want only part-time. But more than 150-180HKD per hour was not really affordable.

Wonder why it should be that expensive...

Aforapple,

Hi, I just wonder how important is the ' well trainned nanny'?
is that you want to train up your child to be the future professionals, so you desire to get a well trained and english speaking nanny?

whywhy

An educated nanny without a loving and caring nature would not make a good nanny. Well trained nannies comes in many packages. The ones that make fantastic nannies are one that have the child's best interests at heart, a gentle spirit, loads of patience and can provide the child with play experiences, stimulation and social interactions. Speaking English is not the most important. The language of love is...BTW a well trained nanny does not need to speak English. The only reason I mentioned I was English speaking was that I could only speak English.

Every parent wants the best for their child. That is why a well trained nanny is more sought after than a DH in this respect, However some parents can not afford a nanny. You may wish to read up a little on child development, age appropriate games, songs and other forms of stimulation. This should get you started and your child would benefit greatly by just doing things with you.
