Part time legal live out helpers - your experiences?

Hello helpful people!

Moving soon to HK and wanted to hire legal part time live out helper - I'll be an at-home mum to a 3 year old, and just wanted some regular cleaning and occaisional (maybe 1-2 nights/week) babysitting.

Was thinking to hire cleaners through an agency and babysitting through separate agency, or are there live-out local HKers or legal residents that could competently do both? What has been your experience?

Also - we are considering either Discovery Bay or Southside for areas to live - is it impossible to get this kind of legal part time arrangement in Discovery Bay (I'd imagine a long way for locals/residents to travel), and easier on Southside?

Thanks!
J.

PT Helper

Hi Justine,
I just met a lovely PT Helper (legal) that may suit for both purposes. May be difficult for DB unless you pay their transport. Send me a PM if you are interested.
Thanks.

Hi Justine,
Just thought I'd be cheeky and see how you've got on? That's the kind of help I'd be interested in too! We move to DB next week and would be very keen to know if you have found a babysitter as I need one for my husbands birthday present to a concert in March!
Thanks,
Nikki

If you opt for an agency, you'll be paying far more than just hiring a local. The usual rate is $50-60/hour for a local but you can negotiate with them. We have no minimum wage in HK. Just ask to see their ID card and check that it says they have right of abode on the back.
You should copy their card and, to be safe, take out insurance too.
