Part Time Helper Info needed?

Hi there

I am living in Hong Kong and currently have baby number 2 on the way (have 3 yr old), so I am starting to look at the possibility of hiring a part time helper!

Can anyone give me some advice where I can go to get a legal part time helper (someone to do cleaning, clothes washing and ironing and also look after baby for one hour per day so i can have some quality time with daughter)?

Also, does anyone have any idea how much I would pay for a part time helper (I can imagine I would need one for perhaps 4/5 hours for 2 days and 2 hours for 3 - or so ... afternoon/evening time)?

Thank you, your help is very much appreciated!

How to Find a Part-time Helper

I can suggest three ways:

1. By word-of-mouth/advertising - must be a PR/someone on a dependent visa. Try advertising in the church/school noticeboard/newsletter or placing a classfied ad. If you advertise, you're bound to get a lot of enquiries from those who are not legally allowed to take up such part-time work.
2. Through an agency - some won't come for just one hour, probably due to the travelling involved.
3. Through the Interactive Employment Service of the Labour Department - do a search at http://www.jobs.gov.hk/eng/jobseeker/domestic/wizardform.aspx?
Look for someone in your area, conduct interviews and make your selection.

Going rate is $50-80/hour.

Good luck!
