Recently moved to Discovery Bay from Tokyo and am looking for some sort of parent & Toddler playgroup/preschool in DB for my 2 year old son. He has never been in a preschool and I would like to get him started in a group where mom can be there with him before kindergarten starts and he'll have to be on his own without me. He is very attached and shy so want him to have a happy friendly first school experience to lead him to the next one. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Mideget Gems Kids Club has just opened in on e of the flats by the plaza and on Tuesday and Thursday aftenoons they have a parent - toddler playgroup where you can stay with your child. I think they have an open day this weekend?

If you want to stay, the best choice would be Second Friends. It is run at the Marina Club and you don't have to be a member. Anna (the owner/teacher) is fantastic.

There is also the Alliance Church Community Centre (behind ParkNshop next to the management offices) which has a bilingual group where caregivers can stay (although some don't), toddler group 1.5hrs. You can either do Tues/Thurs or Mon/Weds/Fri mornings.
Kids Alive can be deleted from the list because it has closed down.
Kindergarten starts at age 3 here! (Between age 2yrs 8mo and 3yrs 8mo, depending on what time of year your child was born.)
