Packing for Queen Mary

Hi Everyone,

Two weeks to go until my little one makes her appearance... give or take a few days... so I have packed my bag for Queen Mary. I have packed what was "listed" but was wondering if there is anything else I should toss in my bag. I have added a night mask, ear plugs and a few granola bars.

Is there anything else anyone here wishes they had packed for their hospital stay?

Thanks in advance!

i took bread and peanut butter...hubby brought me most meals, but it was great to have for midnight snack.

i also took my ipod video, it was FANTASTIC! i was in 8 times throughout my last pregnancy and so it was indispensable(sp?)

toiletries, reading material, towel for you...

that's about it, i think... i was there in feb.

I wished I had taken more maternity pads. (both the bed pads and the ones you wear). I didn't realize they use a bunch of them during the delivery, so had to send hubby out to get more. (but theres a shop on the ground floor that sells them, so he didn't have to go far).

Also, when I asked for oatmeal for breakfast instead of congee, I brought along some Craisins to add some flavor. (It was actually tasty already, though). Oh, also, for a nursing bra, don't take an underwire one. I did and had to have hubby bring me a different one. Underwire may put pressure on your bbs that you don't want when your milk comes in. Perhaps, also, a little journal to write down the experience.

Video iPod... didn't even think of that... what a great idea! I will ask my hubby to start downloading some TV shows for me now for it and I can watch them when I am in the hospital.

I get the general idea snack foods of any sort are a good idea.

Thanks for the tips... tossing a few more things in the bag!

yep, the ipod video was great! you can even buy an adapter for about $480 on the internet, it will be delivered to your house. it takes regular AA batteries so that even if your battery runs out, then you just top up the AA's!

good luck!

ps. also things like nail clippers, lip balm...i even saw one chinese woman giving herself a facial mask while waiting for her c-section!

It is highly unlikely that you will have time to watch videos. I can see if you are in while pregnant, but if you are there for delivery, there will be no time to watch TV. I always took my own pillow, nightgowns, slippers and house coat

hi capital,

Was wondering about taking in my own pillow and if they would allow it... glad they do... another thing has been added to my list. Thanks for that!

charger for your phone, i kept running out of battery from smsing and talking to family on the phone. The nurses don't really like you to plug in your phone but if you do it in the night they usually won't bother you.
