Hi,

I would like to introduce cheese to my baby's diet, I heard that mild taste ones like cottage cheese and cream cheese should be introduced first and then chedder...etc to follow.

I like to give her organic food and keep salt out of her diet if possible. So far I haven't been able to find any organic cheese with no salt and starting to wonder if such thing exist?

Has anybody seen orgainc cheese with no salt? If not, would appreciate suggestion on alternative baby friendly brands and where I can find them.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mrs Buffy,

In Italy doctors suggest to put Parmesan cheese on the meal of babies starting from 6 months. We did it and we are still giving my daughter (18 months) Parmesan. She loves it. There is salt inside, but very few.
My daughter taste didn't change up to now and she still likes insipid food, so I guess Parmesan is not affecting her it.

You can try Babybel which is in red packaging and easily be found in most leading supermarket in HK. Babybel is unprocessed cheese and is safe to be consumed.

mild singletons cheddar and havarti

these two are nice and creamy and can be cut into chunks.
What do people feel about pasteurized v unpasteurized cheeses for children?

Yeo Valley or is it Horizon (I always get the 2 mixed up) do an organic cheddar with low sodium, it costs about $50 and available from Olivers and 360 (although I've not seen it in stock for a while). It has a red label, and is a rectangular bar.
