Opinions on best Fertility Doctor

I know its such a personal choice thing... but I'm not sure where to start! I'm looking for opinions / recommendations for the best fertility doctors in HK. Obviously #1 priority is they get results! Secondly, any comments on wait times and price would be great too. (I've had IVF successfully overseas previously, so know what I'm in for... don't need someone to explain the procedure).

I've used Dr Lo and Dr Doo, both with success. Dr Lo doesn't do blastocyst transfer though, which I think is more effective. I got pregnant with my second embryo transfer (1st FET) on our first cycle with Dr Lo, but had another 4 transfers after that with him (with one full cycle unsuccessful) and none worked. All 3 day transfers. I then switched to Dr Doo and got pregnant first time with a 5 day transfer. Dr Doo is more expensive but worth it I think. I also thought Dr Doo's partner embryologists were better, though that might just be down to the fact that there was little interaction with Dr Lo's. I had already been through 2 full cycles of IVF and numerous ETs, but still learnt so much working with Dr Doo's team. Dr Lo always recommended against 5DT so not sure how experienced his team is in doing it. I know that Dr Doo's embryologists at the Sanitorium are very experienced with cultivating blastocysts and have good results. For me this was definitely the most economical way of getting pregnant - both in terms of time and expense. Can give you more info/detail if you like.

Thanks so much Liquorice. I definitely want someone who does 5 day transfers (I have frozen Embryos overseas that I would like to bring over and they are 5 day, so need a team that can defrost them properly and can do the transfer)
does Dr Doo's office have much of a wait?
sounds like you've had your fair share of proceedures and emotional rollercoasters... are you still trying now? If so, wishing you all the best :)
 
Dr Doo is at the Women's Clinic in Central (2523 3007) and he also does outpatients at the Matilda hospital on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (or he did when I first started seeing him). When I first called his clinic, they said it would be several weeks before I could see him at his Central clinic, but they said I could call the Matilda and book an outpatient appointment and see him more quickly. So I did this and saw him the following week I think. I paid an extra $800 for the privilege of seeing him there, but where I was in my cycle, I needed to see him quickly.

Thanks for your best wishes, but fortunately we were successful first time with Dr Doo. I am now 7 months pregnant, and with twins. The old adage - careful what you wish for springs to mind!!
 
Does anybody have any experiences in gender selection in Hong Kong? I know its illegal now in Hong Kong to select the sex of your baby. My wife and I already have two baby girls (4 years and 1 year olds) both from IVF in Hong Kong. We want to balance the family out a little with an additional baby boy. Anybody can share some experiences will be much appreciated. Will the above mentioned doctors, Dr. Doo or Dr. Lo, willing to help?
 
Hi rainman. I'd be almost certain that neither of those doctors would be willing to help. Think you'd have to go to Thailand or somewhere.

I'm so happy that I came across your posts here. I have a similar experience as you but I'm using the same doctor all along. I was successful with my first IVF 3 years ago with Prolific. But I had two miscarriages already this year.
I had left over embryos transferred in last Dec but end up with miscarriage in 6 weeks. The remaining 6 frozen embryos were either not surviving or not implanted during FET. So I had a fresh ivf cycle in May but was a complete failure with 16 eggs extracted but only two good quality embryos. Then another attempt of fresh cycle in August, with 8 good quality embryos. Unfortunately, there was no sac or heartbeat at the 6 weeks scan. I was very devastated and was wondering whether I should change to the Sanitorium lab but my husband's sperms are frozen in Prolivic and my doctor does not go to Sanitorium.
Can anyone give me some advice?
