OB care/new in HK

My family will be arriving in HK in Feb. I will need to establish OB care soon as I just found out I am pregnant. We are not planning on delivering in HK as husbands job will only be until July and I am due in Sept. What would be the best way to go about finding a great doctor? Does anyone have wonderful docs they would reccommend. We are staying at Tung Chung, but are open to traveling. Will we have to go to HK Island for doctors? Thanks for any info. you can provide.

Thanks rani for the information. Are most of these private doctors? It seems that their fees really vary as well. Do you know if the prices given are in HK$? Which doctors would you reccommend? Thanks again for your input.

I would love to hear from anyone for doctor reccommendations. Thanks so much.

Hi Kristen,

Yes these are private Drs. Prices are in HK$. I used Dr Raymond Ng. He's American Chinese and a lovely man. Our appts were 45 mins, he didn't rush me, answered all my questions. Prenatal care was reasonable, but his delivery charges are high.

my ob-gyn is Dr. Louisa Lam, very patient, no rush (but that means a long wait at the clinic). So i schedule to be the first 3 appmt. clinic in central.

Thank you joann and rani for the referrals. I am starting to feel better about the situation. Since I will not be planning to deliver in HK, do you think any doc's will have any problems w/giving the pre-natal care? Just curious.

Hi, kristen, I would recommend my ob , Dr Joe Chan to you. He is very good, caring and professional. His care is excellent. His ultrasound technique is also very good, you can definite see all you want to see on the screen. I think he does offer antenatal care only as he does not do packages. Anyway just check it out, his no. is 25233328.
