Well, first of all, I woulnd't give any nuts to a pre-school child unless under strict, close supervision: and certainly only one variety at a time, so that if they do have a reaction, you know exactly what it is Many children have nut allergies, which, put bluntly, can kill.
And I've never heard of needing a particular time of day to eat these foods - and raisins are a fruit, not a nut or a seed.

my 2 year old LOVES nuts. he will eat anything with nuts! he calls peanut butter & honey toast...pooh bear bread (because of the honey).

i NEVER leave him alone with nuts though, as i'm always afraid he'll choke on one. never had a problem though.

as a matter of fact, nuts are quite high in protein, which is good because my son is not very fond of meat. (will occasionally eat chicken or pork, hates beef)

thanx for the replies.my son is 2.9 and i think its alright to give him nuts etc ofcourse under supervision.right now i give him pumpkin seeds.want to start cashews and pistachios.
nuts are very high in protien as carang said.
yes,i do know that raisins are dry fruits.

thankyou.

my boy likes all the nuts, but brazil nuts, less so.

cashews he LOVES!!! whenever we have pinapple fried rice, he wants each mouthful to have either a nut or a raisin....
