my LO has not poo in 3 days. Gave him banana and baby yoghurt this morning but still no sign of poo. What shall we do?

You may want to increase fluid intake and not just food - eg. if you eat alot of high fibre food but don't drink enough fluid, it's not going to flush out!

Each child is different but I have noticed that bananas, apples and grapes don't do much to help my son poo(2 and a half years old, poos on average of at least once, mostly twice a day)....berries (strawberries/blueberries/raspberries), papaya, melon (not watermelon) and esp. kiwi fruit do the trick on the fruit front - I have never had to resort to prune or prune juice but alot of people swear by it. Also lots of hard green veggies like brocolli help too....he takes brown bread (only takes white bread when he's running a temperature!) almost everyday for breakfast and sometimes as a snack too.....if your LO is not drinking water voluntarily and prefers juice, dilute the juice significantly with water.....lots of running around and jumping up and down helps too! GOOD LUCK....

sumei,

Thanks for the tips. He finally did after we fed him with banana, yoghurt, water, banana again, juice, more water with juice, some more banana and water. When he did poo, everyone cheered! As soon as he finished his business, he seemed 10 times more playful!

Be careful, banana will not help constipation it will make it worse.

If your baby is constipated, try papaya, or pear.

If they have runny poo, give them banana, apple and rice.

We followed Gina Ford's book on weaning, and to avoid conspitation she recommended a bit of pear daily. We normally gave it to D for his evening meal.

Dear all, thanks for your input.

About banana... looked it up on the internet and found banana to be helpful in both constipation and diarrehea?? So confused!

With my older DD, prunes always help. If your LO is young, you can puree it and blend it with milk. Now she eats the dried ones and they work like wonders for her. Prune juice is good too.

Well my son Isaac (15 months old) only pooh every 3 days since new born and I've been breastfeeding at that time. Well I think is just every practice, and can you believe I even give him prune juice to drink but still does not work, he got his style but at least even though like this, his pooh is still soft so the doctor said he's ok.

So relax!

hi there!
My little boy often suffers with constipation and we don't know why. He can go 5 days without a poo!!he is due to see a specialist to check all ok, but the other week i came up with a natural constipation remedy that is the BEST thing i have ever done!!

for his dinner and tea i made him a home made meal of:

Broccoli
Colliflour
Lentils
cheese sauce

Steamed all the veg together, cooked the lentils and added the cheese sauce.

I PROMISE within 1 hour he was doing a nice big soft smelly one!! i can't believe how good this food together works. I now add different things but keep the basic veg in it and it is working so well.

I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONES BABIES/TODDLERS/CHILDREN WHO DO SUFFER WITH IRREGULAR BOWEL MOVEMENT!!!

WORKS A TREAT!!BELIEVE ME I KNOW I DO THE NAPPY CHANGE AFTER!!

GOOD LUCK

Liz and baby lewis
