Hi,

Moved to Hong Kong just a couple of months back and in my early pregancy, I'm looking for some good gynecs and obstets who can speak and understand English. Any suggestions and feedback? We live on HK island.

Thanks:)

there are tons of posts in this forum (very recent as well) so do a search to get feedback. the same ones will pop up for you:

Dr. Patrick Chan (Adventist)
Dr. Sally Ferguson (Matilda)
Dr. Lucy Lord (Matilda)
Dr. Arabinda Gosh (Matilda)
Dr. Cora Ngai
Dr. Alexandre Doo
Dr. Grace Cheung (same practice as Lucy Lord) etc...

They all deal with ex-pats mothers-to-be and speak fluent English.

Thanks southside852!
That's a very handy list you've provided. And like Sazzy has suggested, I'll check from my insurance list which ones I could go to. Thanks Sazzy:)

There is also Dr. Patrick Chan in Central who delivers at Canossa, Adventist and Matilda. We went public for our birth but saw him for our appointments and he was great. Non judgemental and very patient. Never rushed us!

On your insurance, I am with AIA/AIG and their pead list sucks!! I was so disappointed after trying a few on the list. Now I go to the off panel one, and claim after that.

Just an FYI that Dr Ghosh is unwell so not around to take on patients. I know some mums from my ante-natal group are being transferred to other docs.

That's not exactly the case with Dr. Ghosh. I just had an appointment with him this morning!

After a recent health scare he has decided to take on an associate - who herself is a professor at HKU and currently delivers at Queen Mary. She will do some of the visits with patients. However, Dr. Ghosh will still do my 20 week scan, every other visit and will be the person to deliver my baby.

Unlike some of the other OBs who have always had a group practice and could pitch in for the others when needed, he has in the past done 100% of all work with all patients. His partner is a pediatrician.

Ghosh is an excellent OB who delivered my first (naturally) and I am grateful to have him as my OB for this pregnancy too.

I have Dr. Ghosh as well who despite his health scare, it doing scans now etc...Like zyxwv mentioned, he just hired another doctor to help with the load who seems very good!

Just wanted to share a new Dr who is not mentioned on this site but is in the directory. Dr Catherine Cheung - lovely lovely lady - did first check with her and think will go with her for the delivery. She's reasonable, kind, speaks excellent English, and most of all honestly concerned about your well being! Her waiting room is never full, so if your appt is at 11 - you see her at 11. Only downside is she only takes cash - probably why she's not that busy.

Dr Lam Yung Hang is good too - he delivers at the HK Sanatorium, Matilda, Canossa...his scans are excellent, very professional and thorough and his english is great. i've only ever had to wait 15mins for an appt with him which I think is quite OK....he's located in central "HK prenatal diagnostic centre"

While trying to get pregnant I found Dr. Derek Lo in Pacific House in Central wonderful. He was very attentive throughout my pregancy and his nursing staff are very sweet and comforting. His equipment is on the older side which would be the only thing I would change. Previous to him I was a patient of Dr. Catherine Cheung and I found her very mechanical.
