Need recommendations for a good night diaper! And baby waking up to play!

My gal, who is now 11.5 mths, has recently begun to learn to sleep thru the night (altho she sometimes still wakes up once around 3-4am at night). I am still nursing her and we share a bed with her (which we totally enjoy and love!).

I have been nursing her to sleep from birth, and recently tried the Elizabeth Pantley's No Cry Sleep Solution - Gentle Removal Plan. It works in a way that now, even when she wakes for a suckle, she'd nurse a bit (i guessed she was thirsty?) and when she's done, she'd turn around and go to sleep by herself. :)

Lately, she has been waking up, whimpering, and even refuse to nurse. I nursed, and tried patting, but she'll be thrashing around a bit, so we guessed it was due to her diaper being "full" cos after we changed her diaper, she'd go back to sleep!

We're using Kao Merries which works fine for her. Since she was 3mths old, we'd practice not changing her diaper in the middle of the night. Unless it's soiled. I reckon now that she's older, taking solids and drinking more water, could she be peeing more? This diaper is already one of the more absorbent one, and i'm wondering are there any other brands out there that can really lasts thru the night? It's frustrating when the baby is trying to zzz thru the night but the diaper is bothering her!

On another note, could it also be that she's been trying to learn to walk independently that's waking her? Cos sometimes she'd wake, no whimper, but just kept making these really loud (but cute) babbles. I'd pretend to be sleeping but she'd slap my face, or her loud voice will wake me up. It's strange how she can jus wake up like dat and be so alert and playful! Sometimes she'd go back to sleep on her own, sometimes i'd need to nurse her back to sleep, pulling her back down to the bed (she uses me as a grip to stand up). My mom kept insisting that i'm putting her to bed too early, which cause her middle of the night wakening to play but i dont think so cos she sleeps at 8ish-9pm till 7ish, sometimes 8am, which is about 10-11hours, which i read, is ideal for babies her age.

Anyone with the same experiences?

hey fennho, long time to 'see' !!

my son has the same problems, he wakes up at night to play , sometimes for 2 hours ! We just let him be and don' pay any attention to him, so when he tires he'll go back to sleep himself. We tried to put him to bed a little later but this is not fool proof although it helps generally. now that he started walking, we started to take him out for walks around evening time, so when he's had around 30 minutes of walking ( of course we do pick him up when he's tired and then put him down to walk again once he's had some rest) - this makes sure that he's tired enough to rest well throughout the night.

perhaps if you can try to "walk" your daughter around a bit more and get her tired enough for the night, it might help ? We noted a marked difference for our son if we exercise him well...

hi konradsmom!!
:missu:

So long never "hear" from u too! thanks for replying!

Yah, i'm really hoping its jus a phase. So is your baby's cot in your room, like next to ur bed or in another room? How do u ignore him? Let him play and then he falls asleep by himself? I sleep with my baby so if i ignore her, sometimes she'll pat my face, but i cant cos altho i tried my best safeguard the bed, she can still fall over if she crawls to the edge. So i have to keep pulling her back down!

Still no recommendations on a good night diaper Mommies??

Hey, sorry, life's been crazy with work, what with the financial crises and everything , it pretty much dominates out lives now....

Well, I don't sleep with my son, my helper does but when he wakes up and plays and past her face, she just goes on sleeping. We try not to pay any attention to his antics. What I did to avoid the falling over problem is to buy an adult mattress which is thin enough , so he sleeps on the floor (but not on the same mattress as our helper) . When he is up during the night, he does waddle around a bit and tries to wake our helper but she is quite firmly 'asleep". After a while he gets tired and then would go back to his bed and burrow in the sheets. so the crib we bought him is now no more than a place for him to put his toys....

re diapers, we find that the ultra-absorbent diapers from pampers are quite good for overnight - we have never had a leakage with pampers during the night....

which range is it from Pampers? I was told they have different ones, some from China and some from Japan. The packaging is also very different here in HK (than in SG) so i'm a bit confused.
