Need a domestic helper; where do istart looking?!

Hello ladies,
as our baby is close to arriving, it seems that we will be needing a domestic helper to help us with cleaning, house work, and some help with the baby. Please let me know if you know a good domestic helper , or if you are aware of a good agency.

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival!
I would start with your network - ask friends/family if they know any good domestic helpers who are looking for positions. If you have seen other domestic helpers in action and like what you have seen, ask them if they have any equally as good friends who are looking for positions. Stress that the friends need to be here in Hong Kong already.
There have been some good threads here recently on agencies people were happy with, if you do some searching you should be able to find them.

Where in HK do you live? My helper's sister, who has years of childcare experience, is looking for a new contract. My helper is excellent at cleaning and I believe her sister shares the same work ethic.

Sorry for the late response. My sister's helper is keen to work around here (Midlevels where I too am based) hence asking for your location. She is 44 yrs old, and has been working with the same employer for 12 years. She has looked after 3 children so has childcare experience. She also has three children of her own. She can cook chinese and some western dishes, and is eager to learn to cook more. Her number is 69350054 and 67407281.

Make sure you that you ask for an employment history. And two latest references i.e. the last two jobs (or speak to both husband and wife) with valid telephone numbers and reference letters from their employers if you are hiring someone who has had a lot of experience.

We've experienced fake referee letters and phone numbers.
