natural birth course

Hello,

Has anyone taken the natural birth course with Annerley Midwives? How is it? And are there any other courses that are similar in HK?

I did the natural birth course with annerley 2 years ago (it was under the trademark 'hypnobirthing' then, and found it fabulous.the course itself helped me to understand the process of childbirth & helped me to trust my body to know what to do. I was able to have a very calm, completely natural birth, which is what i was hoping for. i'm planning to do the refresher before the birth of my second child. i'm sure there are other courses around, but i'm not familiar with them.

hope you find something that suits you

Thanks for your responses. If all goes well (i'm only 9 wks), I'm planning to go to HK around 20wks and staying there until delivery. Most of the ladies I know who gave birth in HK had elective c-sections, which I would prefer not to have if things are fine. Seems like Annerley would be a good place to go.

Hi Seethelight

Annerley run two kinds of course - the hypnobirthing and then an antenatal course. From talking to friends who did hypnobirthing it concentrated on not using any kind of pain medication during the birth. I did the other antenatal course (at the end of last year) with them which was also very pro natural but educated us on pain relief also. I thought the course was good - the class size was small - about 10 couples. I guess it depends what you are looking for - I felt it concentrated a lot on just the birth and in hindsight for me I would have preferred a class which covered more than just the birthing experience (such as what happens after and what to expect in the first few weeks of having a baby). That said, I felt well prepared for a natural birth after the course - good luck!
