MSG free restaurants in HK?

Hi All!

We just found out that we're 4 wks pregnant! =) After spending the entire day yesterday smiling uncontrollably & spontaneously bursting into tears of joy, it's time to start researching everything!

I'm calling the Dr tomorror for an appt - hopefully he'll be able to see me right away?

One of my main concern is eating out. Especially being that I love the greasy & yummy Chinese food. Back in the States, a lot of the Chinese restaurants used MSG and I thought I heard that it's the same here.

How do I know which restaurants use MSG? For instance, my favorite place is Jade Garden in IFC Mall - do they use MSG? Can I ask them to prepare my food w/o MSG?

I have a feeling I'll be back with a million more questions... Thanks in advance for all of your help!

PS. Please feel free to suggest any eating out tips. =)

Congratulations!! I think it's wise to ask wherever you go about the MSG. One good place we've found is called Zhong and it is in Lan Kwai Fong on a small road (not the one called 'rat alley' with all the eating places but the next one down). Really nice food and always packed which is a good sign. It's next to Il Padrino in case you can't find it you could ask someone and there is a little temple at the end of the road. Hope that helps!

You can also order delivery/ take away from Zhong Guo Song online at www.no-msg.hk. Contacts and address are on their website as well.

Another Chinese restaurant with no msg is Hang Heung's Kitchen on the ground floor at the Arcade at Cyberport. They also let you order take away and are open late -- very useful for late night pregnancy cravings!

Hang Heung unfortunately tends to be quite oily. Another Zhong Guo fan here. The food is yummy. :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Just got back from the bookstore - picked up a bunch of books including "What To EAT When You're Expecting".

All this is SO unbelievably EXCITING!

Thanks, Rani! I was on Amazon.com when I read your message and switched over to ShopinHK.com. Good thing I did, the expedited shipping charges on Amazon were ridiculous!

I just ordered a few books including one for DH from ShopinHK. =)
