Moving to HK with 3 children...

We are planning a sudden move to HK with our 3 children January 1.
This has just come about and I am very frazzled! I just put my house on the market yesterday and I am not even sure how to begin.

My husband's company has never relocated anyone before, so we are pretty much on our own. We have no relo company or specialist, I am doing all of the research and the work. Even the packing.

My kids are 9, 6 and 2. We are looking for a place similar to the Belcher's, only I think Pokfulam is too far south for us. My husband will work in Shatin and I am thinking that my children will likely attend the American Int'l School in Kowloon Tong. Where would a nice place to live be? We will not have a car an would like a very kid friendly place that is close to some parks and restaurants with a friendly community. We also do not want long commutes.

Any advice?
Our budget is 40-50k and we need 1500-2000 square feet.

When we visited Royal Ascot there were a ton of kids around and it fits your budget. Plus it is a short walk to the KCR and it isn't far from Shatin.
There are also apartments in Kowloon which will fit your budget--One Beacon Hill, Dynasty Heights, Parc Palais. Beacon Hill is close to the KCR/MTR while Parc Palais is a little further from MTR and Dynasty is further still.
You will have too many choices, really. There is a big park in Kowloon with a section for smaller children and a pool, but you aren't allowed on the grass.
Your company isn't helping with anything?

I think Kowloon Tong would be the best choice for your family!
One Beacon Hill is great, there's a park near by, and it's very close to a shooping centre,KCR & MTR station, your husband can take the KCR to Shatin in 20-30 mins!!

Moreover, Broadcast Drive would be another choice if you want to have a friendly community, there are 2 parks and a canteen , I have lived in broadcast drive for more than 20 years since I was a baby, and all of my family members(grandparent, uncles, aunts & cousins) live here as well. you can have a search of The Palace, it is a new complex on Broadcast Drive, there's a club house with gym, children playground & swimming pool with very friendly club house staff. hope the information can help you and welcome to HK!!
