HKFooey,

Replying is the 1st step - next you got to tell us how you plan on celebrating Mother's Day this year. :flower:

Mother's Day celebration

This is the first time, after I have become a mommy, that I will get to celebrate the Mother's Day with my own mama. We are flying her into Hong Kong. She will be arriving on Mother's Day itself. We have arranged with Cathay Pacific to present her with a "To the Best Mama in the World" cake on board the flight. We all will be waiting for her at the airport with a "No. 1 Mom" banner.

In the evening, we are planning to take her to El Cid, where she will be celebrating Mother's Day with a bottle of her favorite Malleolus de Valderramiro. We will also present her with "Grandma Brag Book" that we have been diligently working on since Christmas.

THAT will also be a special gift to ME this Mother's Day. I truly appreciate my mother much more, if that is possible, after I have become a mother myself.

Te quiero mucho, Mama.

I know I don't have a vote but mine goes to SVASBT! No way will my mother ever get to see what she has organised otherwise I will be in deep, deep trouble.

SVSAT - well done and I hope you have a wonderful time.

This will be my second Mother's Day, and my first in Hong Kong.

Last year was a blur - my son was only a month old, preemie, and we were still establishing breastfeeding so Mother's Day was a simple bouquet of flowers from my husband.

Mothers Day is going to be within a few days of my 30th birthday. During the day I am going to have a few friends over for coffee and a little cake from Maxim's. We'll let the toddlers tear the apartment up (toys and cookies and general toddler craziness).

The husband has promised me a special evening. I don't think we've gotten dressed up and out for a dinner date in a year and a half. I am going to get a haircut and the Husband is going to wear slacks (he lives in jeans....lol)! We'll actually go out for dinner like we did before having the kidlet. We've already got a babysitter lined up.

When we get home, I'll call back to the States (14 hours behind) to wish a happy Mother's Day to my Mother-In-Law, my Mother, my two sisters in law, and my mothery type friend Marion.

Then we'll go to bed! :)

How beautiful :bawling:
Hope you all have a Happy Mother's Day!

Michele - Not that easy! You have to share your plans for Mother's Day too :agree:

I'm hoping for a Mother's Day like last year...although my elder daughter has haughtily told me that I can't just ask for what I want.

Last May my youngest was just three weeks old. Her big sister came in very early and for the next hour kept whispering the question "are you awake yet Mummy". When I consented that I was, she dragged her Dad out of bed to make me a cup of tea and vegemite on toast.

The two of them proceeded to spend the afternoon preparing my "dream" dinner, complete with homemade cake. The first time my husband has made a cake, and it was delicious.

Our bonus was being able to enjoy a family dinner in peace and quiet as the baby slept for an unprecedented stretch of 3 hours.

My best Mother's Day ever!

My first Mother's Day

I'll be celebrating my first Mother's Day with my husband and my 7-month old son, Evan. We're having a barbeque with 3 other first-time parents who live in the same complex as us. One of the baby girls is one day older than Evan, and another baby girl is one day younger than Evan. What's really funny is that although we 4 families live in the same development and have babies of the same age, we never knew each other, until we met through geobaby.com! And now we get together on a regular basis. So thanks for a great website!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers out there!

Typical Hong Kong Mother's Day

Like ALOT of Hong Kong wives i will be spending my first mother's day ALONE... well i will have baby with me but no husband. He will be out of out of town for a few days. Needless to say i have managed to make him feel really guilty and i'm sure he will shop sufficientlty to make up for it!

Mother's Day in Hong Kong

I will celebrate it with my 2 1/2yr old and 1 yr old boys. Of course with the "big Boy" (their father), too. No particular plan, but for sure we'll go to Church int the morning to thank God of what He gave us until now, especially for my 2nd boy who was born on the 28th week; Call my mom & my mother in law (they're not in HKG); Maybe I'll bake a cake and we all can enjoy it during tea time.
And after that, we shall wait and countdown for the next Mother's Day...............

 to all mothers in the world!

I have absolutely no idea how I will be spending mothers day but I know it will be special as it is my first (my son is 7 mths) and my husband is one of the most romantic men I know. SO I am looking forward to a very special day with my family. And even if it is a very quite day I will be incredibly happy because for me just being a mum is all I need. (opps that sounds a bit soppy but I am sure you know what I mean)

Kid-made Mother's Day cards

rani:

That's a tear inducer. My nieces and nephew make cards for their mother all the time, and I think I never know how much it really means to their mom until I've become a mother myself.

Can't wait to get the first hand-made card from our son. I know I will cry...

here goes my plan for my wife...

1. prepare "#1 Mom" banners at home and set it up before she wakes on Sunday.
2. will give her favorite flower (peach roses)
3. buy cake and ice cream, even small servings, as we try to limit our sugar intake - its the thought that counts.
4. attend mass for thanksgiving
5. will have lunch buffet at Shangri-la Kowloon - being consummate Filipinos that we are, we love lots of food served just like in a fiesta.
6. will arrange spa treatment in the afternoon, when Sabine .:formulafe takes her afternoon nap.
7. chat cam-to-cam with her sisters/mother in the evening. Sabine gets to chat wuth her cousins too.

[svasbt - having that cake on board a plane, wow - very resourceful! great!]

Just a simple gesture of thanking her and giving her a break for a difficult task of juggling career and motherhood.

now rani, can I get a special price :burnout: for being the first and only dad :bounce: who posted here  ?

cheers!
