Miscarriage - no heartbeat

I was pregnant last November but unfortunately my OB couldn't find its heartbeat at week 7-8. I met 3 OBs and all of them were pretty sure that the baby couldn't survive so I'd better have the abortion ASAP to avoid massive bleeding. Actually I once had a fever at around week 5. It last for only an hour or so. I didn't take any medicine but kept drinking water. I don't know whether it was the reason for the miscarriage. I had the abortion in January and rested for 6 months.

My hubby and I went to hospital to have a body check in August, hopefully to find out the cause of the miscarriage. Results are as followed:

My antiphospholipid antibody (APLA, or blocking antibody?) - negative
My antinuclear antibody (ANA) - = 1:100
My hubby's anti-sperm antibody (AsAb) is 133.

My OB said the APLA has better to be positive since I had miscarriage once. She recommends to have a immunotherapy, which is to have hypodermic injection of my hubby's blood serum (a total of 6 treatments before pregnancy and another 6 at the first trimester of pregnancy).

As for my hubby, his ASAB is too high and it could affect the quality of the embryo.

Has anyone heard about these? I'm very confused. Should I try the immunotherapy as it sounds weird to me? Or should I take Chinese medicine? Any good infertility doctor or OB you could recommend?

Any suggestion is welcomed. Thank you!!!

I am sorry for your loss.

Please note though miscarriage in the first trimester is common. Quite often, there are genetic mutations, fetal chromosomal abnormalities, chromosomal rearrangements or other issues at play.

One miscarriage does not signify you are infertile so you can still go on to have a successful future pregnancy. The miscarriage/lack of fetal heartbeat was perhaps your body's way of "rejecting" faulty genetic material and what could have resulted in potentially worse or severe outcome had the pregnancy gone further. Not exactly sure how this all fits into your age (both you and your husband's) or if miscarriage is common (not your first miscarriage) or has run in your family. If this was not the first time you miscarried and you are considered at a high-risk age, then it may very well make sense to visit a fertility specialist.

You may need to do nothing, still be able to conceive naturally and have a healthy pregnancy this time around. You did mention your husband has ASAB that is considered too high so it may in fact make sense for both of you to check-out what good options there are.

I do not really know of any in Hong Kong but I have heard Dr. Alexander Doo works with reproductively challenged couples.

Please note (based on what I have heard from some of my friends who have seen specialists in the U.S.) not all fertility doctors are warm or good at "hand-holding". When one friend was miscarrying, she told me that her OB at HKSH acted like a "cold fish" and his staff were more concerned with the whether she still wanted to put a deposit down for a hospital bed.

Just thought I would forewarn you about the process. Again sorry for your loss. I wish you the best in your hopes of conceiving a happy, healthy baby.

Both my hubby and I are 28 years old. It was my first miscarriage and, honestly, the baby was a surprise for both of us. I think I really need to prepare well for the coming of the baby this time.
