Hi -

My first baby is due in Dec and i wonder what kind of milk is good for newborns? i was introduced to a milk - from Enfamil A+ Ready to Feed (good until 16mths). Could only be purchased in Canada. The benefit of this milk is that the baby wouldn't get much constipation. Others tell me that this kind of milk is for sensitive baby....so i wanted to ask for your advice if your baby had this milk before.

I am also planning for breastfeeding but just thinking if the product is good for backup.

Thank you.

Regards.

hi Precious88,

My opinion is if you are serious about giving breastfeeding a go (that is exclusively breastfeeding), I'd strongly recommend NOT keeping back up supplies of formula at home. Breastfeeding, while being hugely beneficial to your baby and you, is VERY tough work and you do not need the temptation of having bottles/formula etc at home - it's so easy to give in to at 3am in the morning with a screaming baby, sore nipples when you are sleep deprived and exhausted. Do as much reading up now on breastfeeding (La Leche Leage has a comprehensive book on that subject) and talk to people who have breastfed to get tips on how to breastfeed/common problems/keeping up the milk supply etc so you prepared once baby is born. It's even worth having a couple of sessions with a lactation specialist before your baby arrives and after too.

By all means do your research on the "best" type of formula and where to buy it should you need to switch, just dont keep it in the house!

Best of luck,

Sumei
