My helper has just bust my microwave - left it on for 5 mins without anything inside and now it won't work (it can turn on, but switches itself off after 20 seconds). Aaaargh.
Thanks AndreaY, I'm going to do that this morning anyway, but they tend to be more expensive so was just wondering if there were any other options before I try them.
I gave ours to a guy on the street to fix. He's in Tin Wan (Aberdeen). Will get you the # later. He fixed my toaster for $30 and micro was $100. He doesn't speak any English.
Is it safe to have just anyone fix a microwave? what happens if it's leaking radiation or explodes or something after it's been fixed? What qualifications/experience does one need to be able to fix a microwave? Not being sacastic, I am genuinely interested to find out.
I've been looking on the internet about microwave repairs and even the mend it yourself diy sites do say that microwaves should only be repaired by people who know what they're doing. I phoned the manufacturers and they're going to charge $500 just to send someone out to see if it can be fixed. Hmm. Heading for the bin I think
