Metformin, PCOS and weight loss?

Hello!
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS which actually explains why it is so difficult for me to lose weight around my abdomen especially. I also have crazy cravings (especially before I get my period).

I just moved to HK from the USA where my OBGYN diagnosed me with PCOS and didn't find out about metformin until after arriving here. I want to lose some weight before trying to conceive (most importantly for the health of the baby, as well as because it just makes it easier to conceive) and I was wondering if any of you ladies have had success with metformin for this reason.

Also, can anyone recommend an OBGYN experienced with PCOS?

There are quite a few Drs in Hong Kong that are good with fertility issues. Dr Alex Doo is known for more advanced methods and has a high success rate. Other good Drs are: Phillip Ho, William So, Derek Lo. You need to find a Dr you can trust, so would recommend making an appt with a couple and see how you get on. If you're not in any rush and don't have insurance, then perhaps go through the Family Planning clinic to start with. They have a fertility dept and you can get your initial testing done for both you and your husband, and prescribe metformin.
