Medical Insurance

Is anyone on A+ International Insurance and if so, what are your thoughts? We got a break down of other insurers through an insurance broker and it seemed as though A+ offered the best benefits. They cover 100% of the maternity costs up to USD 16 000 for childbirth and up to USD 4 000 for a prescribed c-section. Our annual premium was about USD 3 300. There is a waiting period of 10 months however, so we are contemplating whether to start trying now or not. I will have to use my Bupa Insurance through my husband's company to cover the costs of the prenatal check ups etc.... before the 10 months are up.

Was just wondering whether anyone is with A+ and what you think about them?

Thanks

in case you were wondering $16K USD is NOTHING compared to what it would/could cost at a private hospital, say Matilda, in HK.... and $4k for a c-section???? that is ridiculously low compared to the cost if you go private. if i were you, i would research the costs of delivery and THEN make your decision.

Thanks for the advice.
Sorry, perhaps I worded it incorrectly previously. All in all they will cover up to USD16 000 and a further USD4 000 should a c-section be required. So in total, USD 20 000. This includes doc's fees, hospital fees and other related medical expenses. Is that still not enough?

i've heard that most deliveries at matilda cost between $100-150k, including the hospital stay... so, it should just about cover it.

I delivered at the Matilda in a private room and had a c-section. Bill came to about 130k, so that'd be about right I think.

No worries, if you haven't already , check out ihi bupa and Nordic, they are also v good and have no problems w claims. Sometimes insurance policies look good on paper (like my husband's work insurance) but everyone at his work has complained about how hard it is to get a claim back.
