Medical insurance

Hi

Me and my husband are thinking about of having another child late next year and have read that you can get private medical insurance to cover pregnancy and child birth (1st child was born in UK).

Can anyone recommend a company/policy?

Thanks.

normally the first year of coverage you cannot claim the maternity benefits - I would double check with whatever company you choose....i used to use IHI / BUPA and they were very good. I didn't plan on any more kids so when they increased my premium I gave up IHI...

Hi, I'm with DKV Globality. The premium is quite high but the cover is really good and the waiting period for maternity is only 8 months.

We are also with DKV. Like Cherina said, their coverage is very good and even covers IVF, but their customer service leaves a bit to be desired. They are slow to respond to email inquiries, though it is fairly easy to get them on the phone (if you have an IDD plan or Skype or something similar that will allow you to call Luxembourg cheaply - they don't have an office in HK). We haven't made a claim yet, but from everything I hear, they are good about paying them out and for high cost items like delivery, they can charge the doctor and hospital directly. Their best plan costs roughly 250 euros/person/month if I remember correctly, and their waiting period is indeed only 8 months.
