Medela Haberman Baby Bottles

Hi Ladies

We had just bought the Avent sterilizer set complete with 5-6 Avent bottles, for our baby who's due in a month... BUT a good friend of ours just recommended the Medela-Haberman bottles, which he claims are much better than the Avent ones he was using before with his newborn. He said the Avent gave his baby lots of wind and made him cry a lot in discomfort, whereas the Medela Haberman bottles are designed to alleviate this problem, and his baby has had no wind problems/discomfort since they switched. These are more expensive and apparently only sold at Celki stores...

Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with Medela Haberman bottles versus Avent and whether you'd agree that they are worth the extra investment. As I said, we've already bought the Avent set, but willing to spend more money on the Medela Habermans IF they are really that much better for Baby.

Also, if anyone knows whether the M-H bottles would fit into an Avent sterilizer, that would also be great for us to know!

Thanks so much!!!

I have not tried the Medela bottles, but I would say that it is definitely worth investing in bottles which reduces air ingestion.

Apart from Medela, there are many other brands which does this. Also, you might want to consider brands that do are BPA free as BPA is also harmful to babies.

Here's a report rating the different brands in terms of BPA:

Adiri, Born Free and Medela are the only brands which are available in HK I think.

The Haberman Feeder is designed to help babies with a cleft palate. In these cases it is very difficult to get the milk to pass the hole in the baby?s mouth and to keep the suction. They are not necessary for babies who do not have these feeding difficulties. This is the reason that they are only sold in specialist shops such as Celki Medical Company.

Thanks, Chinchilla and Sarah!

Sarah, since you're clearly an expert at feeding, is it dangerous/risky for us to be using Avent bottles if they are not PVC free? Or are they? Not sure, as the box does not say they are PVC free so I assume they are not...

Thanks for any feedback, anyone.

Chinchilla, do you know if the Adiri bottles fit into the Avent sterilizer? How do you sterilize your Adiri bottles? Also, have you found the bottles to be easy to use / easy to latch onto for the baby? One of the reasons we were excited about the Avent bottles is because we'd heard babies take very easily to them and that they work well.
