Hello!

Has any tried Maygi for the post-natal massage and tummy binding? I would like to do this post delivery. Was thinking of hiring someone over from Singapore/Malaysia, but if this lady is good then it'll save me a lot of hassle!

Thanks in advance.

Does tummy binding really work?

I was told by the locals that it's important (actually they said it's necessary) to wear these tummy binding, body sculpting lingerie to help the tummy recover. Did anyone of you try that? Is it good?

I tried once, it was pretty uncomfortable and gave me major muffin top :) Can't imagine wearing it to bed! But it does remind me to contract my muscle and hold my core in ....

You're right - I have no idea if it works at all, would love to hear people's opinions. Scientifically I guess it would be hard to prove if it helps seeing as people return to their normal size at different rates. Anecdotally I have a two friends who said that the first few post-wrapping sessions were really useful in shrinking their bellies. One of them had it several months after birth and said it was quite useful - although she said the massage was the very best bit! She didn't leave the band on the whole time.

I went to Maygi in April this year, 2 months after giving birth. Had 10 sessions with her. The wrap certainly helped to shrink my tummy, I'd say about 60-70%, but did not get me back to pre-pregnancy shape in that 7 week period. A lot will depend on your age, metabolism, your skin elasticity, and overall fitness level PLUS the length of time you keep the wrap on. If you want a totally flat tummy then be prepared to bind your tummy (wrap, corset, whatever) for 24 hrs/day for 6 months!! It's really up to you how much discomfort you are prepared to put up with in the name of beauty. I grew up in Malaysia so I knew of many Malay and Indonesian women who bound their tummies post natal for many months to get back their figures. After I finished the wrap sessions it was breastfeeding that reduced my tummy. Maygi was pretty chaotic at managing her schedule though - lots of last minute changes, even 15 mins beforehand as I was already on my way to her appointments. Once or twice might be ok but she kept chopping and changing slots virtually every session. I had lymphatic massage a few months later and that was helpful too; not unpleasant or uncomfortable either.

I had 2 sessions of the tummy binding massage with Maygi. I think it certainly helps to shrink the tummy (not all of it but significant) but I heard from my friends in Singapore (who did similar type of massage) that only the first few times are effective and it's not really necessary to do 10 sessions. I personally think that Maygi's massage is not fantastic but the tummy binding at the end of massage is good. You also need to maintain the shape by wearing a support belt/ band after you complete the sessions.

Yes, her scheduling is quite chaotic. I booked her 4 weeks before I give birth, confirmed the dates again when I gave birth but somehow the booking still got lost when I tried to reconfirm 1 week before the scheduled date. I had to give her quite a bit of grief before she squeezed me in.

Hi Woodstock07, how does the tummy binding massage work? Is it a massage, followed by binding? Does she provide the binding and how long you have to wear it for?

I'll like to give it a try, may I have her number pls? Thank you!!

It's a normal massage (with massage oil) followed by the tummy binding. Each session is around 1 hour. She puts some herbs on your stomach area and uses a very long piece of cloth to wrap tightly round the whole abdominal area. You will look somewhat like a mummy (pun unintended!). It's recommended to keep the wrap on for 24 hours, so do have a shower before the session begins. The herbs and wrap is supposed to help squeeze out the unwanted gas inside the body.

For home visits, she charges $850 per session or $8000 for 10 sessions. On top of that, there is a transportation charge which varies depending on where you stay.

This is her website Maygi

Thanks!! If not for home visits, where is her office?

This herb and wrap, does it smell and is it dry? :)

You find it helpful? I think I have a lot of gas in my tummy haha.

not sure where her office is. perhaps you can give her a call. her email response is slow.

the herbs has a smell but not awful. it's a bit damp when applied and it's can ce itchy when dried.....and you can't scratch because you're all wrapped up...:(

i think it's helpful, especially the first time. but i think the effect diminishes with each session. but i find that if i don't wear the support belt diligently, the tummy comes back a bit but of course not as bloated as before.

she was subletting rooms in Central and TST when I went to her in April. At that time, she told me she had found a permanent place in TST and would be renovating it. Best to call her mobile, she does not regularly check her emails.

Yes the massage, the herbs and oil are all good for expelling wind and toning the abdominal massage. I also found the lymphatic draining massage good (though I went to another therapist for that).

The corset or girdle can be bought easily. Maygi recommended a particular brand found at Seibu, but there are tons of postnatal corsets to be found in maternity wear stores and baby/maternity sections of dept stores. I even found some good ones in Chicco baby stores.

Did you find that 10 sessions were necessary? What would you recommend to be the optimal number of sessions? Thanks!

Personally, I don't think that 10 sessions, although good to have, are "necessary". I could have had less sessions and just worn the corset for extended periods at home. It really depends on what you want to achieve and what you are willing to do to achieve it. It's hard for me to say what the optimal number of sessions would be. Maygi told me of her other customers who are actresses and models who booked for 20 sessions because they wanted/needed to get back into shape, fast. Do you want to clear the water retention/wind/tone up? how much did you gain during pregnancy and lose afterwards? do you want to fit back into your pre-pregnancy clothes? do you expect a completely flat tummy? how much discomfort are you willing to put up with? how much are you prepared to spend? Maggie's treatments are not cheap. I seem to recall she had packages for 5 or 7 sessions as well, but you could choose a 10 session package or even more. All these plus the considerations I listed out in the earlier post.

Hi, has anyone tried Maygi's tummy binding recently? Dose it work?I just gave birth to my baby 2 months ago and really want to get back to shape now. Thanks!

I booked her once I knew I was pregnant. she was very nice and patient. explained everything to me clearly. most importantly, she was a very easy going person and made me very comfortable.

My baby was out in Feb. I tried in March this year. It s amazing. my tummy is totally lost and no rebounce.

Thanks bububb for our sharing. I just had 4 sessions of Maygi's 10-Day Total Body Recovery Treatment, I really enjoy the massage and the tummy binding really makes my tummy become flatter now, hope I the results after 10 days will be as amazing as yours. Have you tried the Post-Natal Breast Rejuvenation Treatment as well?

I tried the breast treatment after tummy binding and it s really work. after breast feeding, my breast was like a flat balloon :haha: The treatment made it firmer and lighter in color.

Oh! make sure you take the treatments from Maygi Beauty. my friend tried one providing similar service but totally useless and wasted a lot of money. Maygi clearly stated the price in their website and their binding skills are completely different. Don't want you to waste the golden moment of recovery :)
