Is anyone expecting in May 2011? I am currently 17 weeks, expecting May 8th. This is our first baby!!! We are really excited! :)

Hello jada511, I am due 6th May 2011 with my first baby. My bump is now obvious enough to tell everybody that I am pregnant! :)

I'm due May 1st, also with my first baby - nearly halfway there which is wonderful and scary at the same time!

Hi all,

I am expecting our first baby in early May as well! Any of you doing any prenatal yoga classes? I am looking for a studio on HK island (as I live in causeway bay and my work is in central).

Thanks, Maaike

Hello Maaike, welcome on board! The Yoga Room in Sheung Wan and Pure Fitness in Causeway Bay both offer prenatal yoga classes three times a week. I did plan to try out The Yoga Room, but for some reason I had to leave HK for a while. When I return to HK again in March it might be already too late for me to start prenatal yoga... :/

Thanks for the information! I will look into it.. Esp the yoga room as i think pure yoga is a bit expensive.

Cheers, Maaike

Hi maaike,
I take pre-natal yoga at Pure Yoga in Central at the Centrium Building. They also have 3 classes a week. I think sometimes they might be able to give you better deals if you are, for example, only doing pre-natal and at only at one studio. Good luck!! I love the pre-natal yoga!

Hi Maaike

I work in Central in the Landmark and go to Pure Yoga in the Centrium at lunchtime twice a week which works quite well for me. I enjoy it and it's usually quite an active practice so feels like good exercise as well as relaxing.

Thank you all for the yoga studio information. I am now joining yoga limbs, went to 1 class, quite nice!

Hi iwalani,
Congratulations! I'm a first time mom too and it is a bit nerve racking, especially living so far from my family. But so exciting too!!! Hope your pregnancy has been going well for you!! :)

I'm wondering how many moms are going public and how many private? Just curious? :)

I'm going public all the way right from the start until the delivery, which should be at Queen Mary hopefully. How about you?

I'm going public as well at Queen Mary/Tsan Yuk as private is not covered for us. It's been fine so far even though you never see the same doc. I've had friends deliver public and say it was fine. It's definitely a new experience!

I'm going private but heard great stuff about the queen mary (that it actually has the best doctors, best neonat facilities and that private hospitals would refer any complicated pregnancy to QM).
I'm expecting the first little one for 6 May and live in Midlevels. Very excited. Once the babies have arrived, I hope to meet you and babies - maybe we can form playgroups ;)

Yes definitely! If anyone would be interested to meet for a coffee sometime...might be nice to meet other moms due around the same time.

Hi jada I would love to meet other May mums too, but won't be back to Hong Kong until beginning of March.

Recently I am having troubles to sleep. My hip hurts when lying on the left side, my pelvis is painful when turning in the bed, and pain under right rib cage to the back when lying on the right... every night is a struggle to sleep for more than an hour without being waken up by all sorts of pain... How are you ladies? I do hope you are sleeping much better than me.

Hi smile-ss,
I was having a lot of trouble sleeping a few months ago already as I'm a tummy sleeper and i would get so uncomfortable trying to stay on my side, my hip would hurt too...I'd usually end up on my tummy. What I did is I bought a body pillow when I was in Canada and I sleep beside that with one leg on top and arm on top and it had made it more comfortable to sleep. My hip still gets a bit sore but it doesn't seem to be as bad and I can actually fall asleep a lot easier. I don't know if that would help you at all. My back is starting to hurt a lot, not just my low back, my shoulders, neck, middle and low back. Pregnancy sure changes the body a lot!!!
