making up formula with freshly boiled water

I've read that formula milk should always be made up with freshly boiled water. Does anyone know why reboiled water should not be used? I'm considering buying one of those kettles that continuously heat up a supply of hot water so I have it readily available - which I guess is reboiled water.

reboiling water will cause minerals to build up in the water which is harmful to the baby. So even if you are out and about, and need to buy bottled water for your baby or young child to drink, you should buy distilled rather than mineral water.:flower:

We used our hot water machine to make the formula for our kids. Very convenient.

Our kids grew up strong and healthy, no problem w/ mineral build-up.

Lord knows, there are things to be worried about in raising kids, but I thibk the "danger" of re-boiled water is nothing compared to other dangers they face (e.g. filthy air)

My five penneth worth - my health visitor and doctor were both very clear about the fact that bottles should be made up with new water each time because of the mineral/salt build up caused by reboiling. The only mineral waters that are safe for babies to drink are Evian and Volvic.

I am with loupou. My doctor was quite clear in the fact that it did not pose any great threat to the child.

I have three healthy children who have not repercussions.

This might sound a bit outdated.... I use a flask/thermos to keep the boiled water. You only need to boil once, and the water will still be hot (or at least warm later on) when you need it. You just have to adjust the amount of cool water to add: just a little but when it's not that hot anymore, and a bit more when it's still boiling hot.
I just alternate between distilled and mineral water. Therefore, can't go really wrong, haha....
