Maclaren strollers

Hi mums, I'm looking to buy a Maclaren stroller. What are your experiences with this stroller and which one is better ? I believe they have Trimph, Techno XT, Volvo etc ? Is this a good stroller to get ?

With three children we have two Maclaren strollers, a triumph and a techno classic. Although the techno classic is slightly larger, I find it much more manoeverable and lighter to steer. I think that the ride is more comfortable as well, since there is suspension on the classic which is not on the triumph.
I hope that helps.

We have a triumph - at the time I bought it, I think it was the lightest. At 6 months, our LO was a little small for it. It's OK now, although she slumps a lot and sleeping looks not too comfortable (no padding). The brakes are difficult to operate and opening and closing is not so easy one-handed, either. That said, it is very lightweight, so you make a choice based on your priority.

I have the techno XT which is very easy to manoever and fairly light to carry. The hood can be extended which I find useful when baby is asleep. Another plus is that it can recline, so suitable for a newborn or a sleepy toddler.

Has anyone seen sale promotions for Maclaren lately? I'm interested in either Triumph or Techno.

I will be traveling to HK from China soon.

mothercare has a sale and if u have american express then u get 15% I am not sure if it includes strollers u can call and check

I have the triumph and have been happy with it. It's just so light, and for us that is the most important feature, since I do a great deal of travel on public transport and walking round the city where you have to carry up and down stairs etc.

I find it great to close and open one handed actually! Personally I wouldn't consider any stroller that is heavier, but that's just me.

The downsides are that the brakes are hopeless, and there is very little room in the basket underneath. It is also not as comfortable as some others for sleeping in, like a previous poster said. My son has never complained and always sleeps fine in the stroller, but it does LOOK uncomfortable!

I have to agree with hkaussie mom on a lot of her points.
We have the Techno XT and in retrospect we should have purchased the lighter versions. It can get heavy even though it's quite easy to maneuver around. Since we live in a walk-up, I have to store it in the trunk of our car so that I don't have to carry my daughter in one arm and the stroller in the other hand. It's actually quite heavy to lift if you have your hands full and I'm not weak!

Since the stroller doesn't look very padded, we got the sheepskin specifically for the stroller. You can find it at Bumps to Babes. It's quite pricey (around $500) but it was a gift from our registry. It keeps her cool in the summer and warm in the winter and it seems pretty comfortable especially the streets can be quite bumpy in Hong Kong.

I never use the basket underneath because it's just too small and I can't even get to it.

It is however, quite easy to fold up once you do it a couple of times. When it's new, it's not that easy to get the hinges to fold up since it's still stiff.

In retrospect, my husband and I both believe that we would have been better off with a lighter version (Triumph or Volo) and then got a tandem stroller like the Phil N Teds since we're planning for 2 kids. Our daughter didn't even like sitting in the stroller for the first 3 months so we didn't really need one that was suitable for a newborn. We did however, use a head cushion to keep her head from moving side to side in the beginning. I still don't use the stroller when I go to malls. It's just too much to handle with the baby bags, etc. I still much rather carry her around in the sling especially in crowded areas like Central. But then again, she is still relatively light at 15 pounds. But that will change soon!
