Looking for a midwife to help with labour at home

Hi, I'm pregnant with my second baby and will be delivering again at a public hospital (the United Christian). My first was at the Prince of Wales where I had a quite traumatic experience. I had a long labour, 40 hours, and was in the labour room for the last 15 hours alone as they wouldn't let my husband in until just before delivery. Although I know the United Christian allow someone with you I don't want to go in so early this time. I want to hire a midwife who can come and help for a few hours at home (also help show my husband what to do).

I already know about Annerleys but would rather not use them. I would be happy with a Chinese midwife as my husband is Chinese.

Recommendations much appreciated!

Hi Clarehk,

Have you find a midwife? Have you considered hiring a doula?

I've had a doula with me for my 2nd birth and she was amazing! She helped me laboring at home as long as I could handle it and she was an unvaluable help to me! I probably could not have done that much at home without her. She came with me and my husband at the hospital and could stay until the birth (I was at Matilda), I will never recommand enought to other mums to be to have a doula supporting them while in labor.

If you need her contact, pm me.
