Live out helper/babysitter wanted

Hi! I am looking for a live out helper who can also babysit a 1 year old. My job schedule is not fixed, therefore sometimes I may need the helper 5 times a week or sometimes less, as well as the hours per day which could be from as little as a few hours to the whole day.
She can start work in June. Hopefully someone can recommend as to where I can find a flexible time helper!:thanks
 
If you want a live out helper you will have to hire a local helper- i.e. someone with a HKID card and who does not need a work visa. It is now, unfortunetly, illegal to have non-HK helpers live out. People do it but you have to take the risk!
 
Thanks bekyboo44! I think it is not that easy nowadays to find a local helper but if anyone knows someone, would appreciate if you would let me know, thanks.

Do you speak Cantonese, if so you can easily find a local baby sitter but it will cost up to HKD 60-80 per hr. One of my friend have one that work five days a week off PH and cost her HKD 18,000/month.
You could find them in Labour dept.

thanks bear lau! yes, i speak cantonese. but i think 18k a month is too much. do all local helpers cost much more than the other expat ones full time?
 
hi patts! hi everybody! you can also hire helper directly from Philippines and provide her boarding house to stay-out of your house, and adjust her salary for she will just work 5 days a week (depends on your agreement before signing a contract). Helpers staying out of their employer's place is legal. There's available domestic helper direct from Philippines in Classifieds section of www.geoexpat.com check it out! and you can also post there that you're looking for stay-out helper =)
 
That's true you need to obtain approval from the Director of Immigration, if suitable live-in accomodation is not available. If you read the footnote on the immigration site -

Examples of unsuitable accommodation are: the Helper having to sleep on made-do beds in the corridor with little privacy or sharing a room with an adult or teenager of the opposite sex.

In Barb's case, they are a family of 6 and space was an issue.

Part Time Helper

Ladies,

I've had Amy come by several times a week for the last month (recommended by another mom on Geobaby) and she is AWESOME! She is flexible with her hours, already lives in a boarding house so doesn't need you to help take care of that. She takes care of my 1 year old son including taking him to the playgroup on occasion. While he is sleeping, she is busy taking care of household chores. She is just great. Send me a message if you would like her to call you or want more [email protected]
 
Ladies,

I have a part-time helper who I won't be using anymore as I am going back to work and will have a live-in helper. The part-timer is AMAZING with our son who I am EXTREMELY particular about. Her name is Amy if anybody needs a part time helper. Send me a message and I'll have her call you. She is awesome. She has more energy than I do sometimes with our son and when he sleeps she is always doing something else - cleaning, vacuuming, ironing, laundry, etc. She has even taken our dog out a couple of times upon my request.

Let me know if you need somebody and I'll have her call you. She already stays in a boarding house so that won't need to be organized/paid for. I would HIGHLY recommend her - she was recommended to me by another mom on geobaby!!

I am in the same situation. My work hours are exactly like yours. I am basically "on call".

I have had to turn down a lot of work because it just isnt cost effective for me to work when paying someone by the hour. The babysitter would make the same amount of money as me when adding in the hours to get to my job (which can vary).

I can't hire a full time helper because i dont have the space and my husband and I are on local wages. My work isnt constistent.

But i need someone so I can work again. Im very frustrated.

I figured if I pay someone $2000 a month it is fair. But they have to live near me as well. Because since Im on call, they'd be on call too. They might not have to work very much and could do other work if i don't need them. But I cant pay the $4000 Domestic helper wages because sometimes i dont even make that much.

Sounds like we are in the same situation, I have just got myself a part time job. I have been looking around for part time helper but it seems rather difficult as I only know my schedule a week in advance so a part time helper might have other commitments with other people on the days that I need her. It is impossible to pay someone by the hour as I would be broke! ;-(
I still hope to find someone who can accomodate my last minute schedule,otherwise i might have to consider not working...it might not be worth all the stress and worry.
How old is your baby?

I am from Singapore, I am living in Hk now but I am not working at the moment. I am engaged that is why i am here in HK, it is really hard to find something to do here in HK, I am very interested in baby-sitting, i love babys :) If you are interested, i could be your help.
