hi, think I've seen info related to this topic before but can't find it in the search... what is the difference between level 1 vs. level 2 formula & is it necessary to go to the next level? my baby is 8 mos & drinking NAN HA, our ped just suggested that we try level 2, however i've also been told many stay on level 1 & this was also recommended by my lactation consultant. any advice apprec, tks!

i believe it is the fat content... we just progressed naturally from one level to the next. my 2 year old is happily enjoying #3 now.

I remember being advised by our pediatrician to stick to #1 for as long as we can, reason being that there's isn't much difference between the different levels, just that they get progressively sweeter.

my ped told us to stick w/#1 too. he said #2 will fill their tummy but cause constipation.

he said #1 is easier to digest and not so filling, so that they will eat more solid and gradually wean off the milk.

My DS was doing very well with NAN HA1. After I switched to the 2nd stage, he had severe diarrhea. He's now happily drinking Enfamil.

My ped says there is no reason to switch to no. 2 or any type of follow on milk - it's mostly a marketing ploy created by formula companies

i compared the 2 cans tonight & level 2 does contain more carbs, as well as vitamins, but lower in energy & fat. based on your experiences, does drinking level 2 help babies gain weight? my baby has not been gaining much weight over the last 2 mos & that's why ped suggested level 2...

hmm... i'm now a bit hesitant whether to switch to level 2 hearing the comments here...

I nursed for the first few months and we started on Level 2 when D was 7 months. He drank Enfapro A+. Our Dr told us to stick to 2 and we didn't move up to Level 3 or any other follow-up milk.
