i just had lap done last week to remove a dermoid cyst. Since i had also been TTCing for over 2 years my doc thought it would be a good idea to check out my other organs during the surgery. In the end, they found that my tubes were clear and only a very small bit of endo on my right ovary.

at my follow up appointment, i asked him what my next step should be in regards to my TTC journey. He said that since my hubby's SA results were fine and my tubes were clear, it could be possible that i'm not ovulating and recommended i take clomid or femara. I haven't done any other blood/hormone testing yet and i'm not sure my doc is a specialist in the fertility department.

I'm thinking of seeking a specialist but i'm not sure of who to see. I see a lot of names mentioned on this forum and most are related to IVF treatments. Hubby and I are not ready to go down this path and want to keep it as natural as possible. I want to find a fertility specialist that will not rush me into IUI or IVF and do all the testing to see what other problems there might be before resorting to medication and other treatments. Any recommendations?

thanks in advance!

I highly recommend Dr Philip Ho. If you tell him you don't want to rush into fertility treatment he will be happy to hold off. I was the other way around and was very impatient and he did do IUI, but told me he thought there was nothing wrong. He was right and I have since had two natural pregnancies!

Same here. Saw dr Ho and when all the preliminary tests came back negative he told us to try for six more months as I was still relatively young. Ended up doing iui, succeeded luckily on second cycle and now bub is almost 6 mths. I asked him after the delivery whether I should head for iui straightaway the next time and he said many women manage to conceive naturally the second time round- like an engine that's been switched on and it will keep running. He's a top guy who knows what he's doing.

thanks ladies for your recommendations. DH and I have had a long talk about this and bascially he wants to give it a few more months trying naturally before heading to a specialist. So in the meantime i'm just gonna do some chinese herbs and accupuncture and if it doesn't work after a few months we'll see Dr. Ho.

Are you taking your temperature (BBT) everyday? That would help you see whether you are ovulating and you can show your charts to the Chinese doctor who will use it to help decide on the treatment.

portia: yes i've been charting since May, and my cycles are pretty irregular. Temps showed that i O but my cycles have ranged from 27-54 days. I do plan on taking my charts to the doc to see what he can do for me. Thanks for asking.
