Japanese International School (Tai Po)

I am interested to learn more about JIS (Tai Po). I am planning to apply the reception class (English section) for my daughter. Any advice? And how is the daily schedule being in the reception class?
 
My daughter has been at JIS for the last year. She is in Reception and absolutely loves it. Classes are small. Excellent teacher/student ratio and wonderful facilities. Under the care and guidence of all the staff at JIS she has blossomed from a shy, unsure girl to someone who is now confident in herself and extreemly independent. My husband and I are always made to feel welcome and there is plenty of opportunity to mix with the other parents and also get involved in your childs education. The curriculum is definately 'play based' in Reception and takes into account the stage and age of your child. Every unit of inquiry has been hands on and has really fired my daughters enthusiasim. I love the fact that she has really been integrated into the whole school environment. They go to the Library, cookery room, swimming pool and hall every week and are taught by specialist teachers. All the children from reception to year 6 seem to know each other and take great pleaure in sharing each others achievements. We visited several schools when looking for my daughter and JIS stood out. Not just because of the wonderful facilities but the welcome we got from the Head and all the staff. When you look around the school you will notice the really great atmosphere.
 
My daughter has just been admitted to the reception class in JIS this coming August. Is your daughter going to school by school bus? If yes, how do you like the service? I understand that the English section has separate buses from the Japanese section and so I worry that the buses will travel around the world before they go to school.
 
Yes my daughter does get the school bus. The service is very good. Excellent bus mum, who is wonderful with the little ones. BUT very expensive. It costs approx $17,00 a month. She gets picked up at about 7.15 and they get into school just before 8.00, enabling her to have a quick run around outside before the bell goes She loves getting the bus with all her friends, and more often than not has a little nap on the way home! There is another 2 children in reception that get her bus and about 10/14 in total. Like you I was concerned about the travel time, but this seems to be the norm in HK. And the quality of the school makes it all worth while. Where abouts do you live?

You meant HK$1,700 per month? How come? We live in Ma On Shan and so the total fee in the coming year, according to the information sheet I got, is about HK$7000+, leading to about HK$700 per month.
 
Have just double checked and yes it is $1,700 per month. We live on the Gold Coast. What is the name of the bus company you will be using?
 
Wow, Gold coast! Australia? Just kidding. Well, then picking up at 7.15 and arriving at 8.00 sounds not too bad.

The information sheet I got from Miss Miyajima is from a company called "Khoon Chung". The fee depends on where one lives and for those in Ma On Shan, the fees are 3000+, 2000+, 2000+ for the three terms respectively.
