i guess it is in HK anyway.
im tired of thinking and worrying about this whole school thing here.
i worry about international primary school fees and have no idea about
the other local english medium schools here ...... just venting i guess......

Same here. Till my dh told me that "expensive" school was not a guarantee for a successful life later on. His friend told him that his cousin studied in one of the "pricey" international school but now he had a better job than his cousin! (But, somehow, I'm still worry abt my ds schooling!)
But I'm not going to put him in the local school. Maybe I'll find an international school that's not very expensive. And teach him some stuffs at home.

i have no choice, my son needs to go to int'l or english medium ones. just one big headache, wish i was in uk so i wouldn't have to worry about it at all!

Fees as high as college education

I totally understand what you're going through as I'm attempting to do a spreadsheet to figure out which schools I can look at within my vicinity and how much it would set me back. While surfing the web, I've even found an international school for kindergarten for over 112K. Does that sound insane or is it just me?

lynn - my son is 4. i dont know chinese/mandarin either. hubby does but he works too many hours to be able to help son's homework.
HK for now - its not you, its an insane price, bet that kindergarten you mentioned was Yew Chung which is like mega $$$$$$$$ ridiculous.

i am applying to ESF this year and also a local english medium school in tai wai so we'll see........ good luck you all,

Shaz,
You sure know your schools. Yes, that was the one I happened to stumble upon on the web. Luckily I don't live in that neighborhood so it's not even an option.

where do you live hkfornow?
u know you could always try schools out of your area if you wanted, not too far though. im having that problem, i live too far from the good schools!

I live in Pok Fu Lam, Bagiou Villa. We do not have a car, so we are on public transportation or hope that the school bus has seats & that he can do the journey. . . which means I don't want him to travel too far, no matter how "good" the school. I am trying to include Aberdeen, Ap Lei chau, Mid-levels in my search.

Shaz,
Just curious to know what' local schools teach in an english medium' that you've come across.

I think home schooling prior to P1 is always an option for moms who stay home and have the desire to do so. It takes a lot of discipline and support but I know quite a few success stories.

my son is 1.5yr old and i went mad after knowing the way to get the application form for those so-called famous kg

are the ppl here nuts? queuing overnight for an application form???

I am going crazy soon too!!! Still debating Int'l or local!? Is there any bilin school which is good, affordable and no queing up? Sound silly, doesn't it?

My son is doing his form4 in plk ngan po ling college. he is good at all subject except maths. i'v arranged him a maths tution class. but he got low marks in first midterm test in maths. i don't have much truston him, whether he'll pass his "O" level or not.
