Hi

my mother in law is insisting that I should start giving my boy porridge with fish when he turn 6 month early next month.

Anyone have any experience and is it safe to feed him porridge with fish at this age.

:thanks

i remember i gave fish porridge to my baby slightly after 6 months. I don't give him the meat but gave a piece of meat and carrot to cook the porrige together and later just give porrige to baby. I asked the Mother and Child Clinic nurses, they all said it is fine but beware of bones and then see how it goes and increase it gradually.

I think in general it is safe. I gave fish and chicken porridge from 6 months but we did wean earlier than 6 months so she was used to eating solids before. I started with plain rice cereal, then added fruit and veg then meat. You could try just plain rice porridge to begin with?

I do agree that it is safe in general. You could feed him & see if he has any reaction to it (as with other food first introduced). If all's good, you could keep at it. I actually started fish/veg porridge with my daughter at 6 months & gave chicken/meat abit later.

Hi Jaz,
Thought you moved to Canada for good?
Sorry I have gone off the radar, been busy with bb, work and recently sick with flu...
As for the porridge, my girl started congee 6.5mths, MIL cooked lean pork to extract the juice and mix with the congee. My MIL says bb start to eat the meat(fish, pork etc) later maybe around 9mths
