Is Gaviscon OK to take while pregnant?

I went for a doctor's appt earlier this week and he was supposed to give me something for my horrible heartburns... but the nurse & I both forgot to remind each other and I left empty handed.

While browsing Mannings today, I came across Gaviscon for heartburn relief and bought it. When I called the doctor's office to ask if I could take this, they said they'd call me back but haven't yet.

Would anyone know if it's OK to take Gaviscon while pregnant? I'm currently 9 weeks and having the worst heartburn esp. during the evenings. I remember hearing it was OK to take Tums but don't know the verdict on Gaviscon.

I'm hoping I can finally have some heartburn relief tonight... *crossing fingers*. Thanks in advance for any input!

You should probably wait and check with your doctor for your own circumstances, but I took Gaviscon during my pregnancy which was recommended by my ob. Although I didn't take it before 12 weeks - so you might want to be a little cautious on this fact that you are still in the first trimester.

I feel your pain, I had terrible heartburn for most of my pregnancy hope you get some relief soon.
