My 18-month-old boy also likes Peekaboo barn. Also "I close my eyes by little Bella", most of the flashcards by kindergarten.com, toddler shapes, funny flash with morphing animals. He also likes to make me play paper toss and touch hockey. Oh,and also "Build a word" by wordworld.
My 20 month easily gets tired of the apps but the ones that kept him interested are the peek-a-boo and babysitter ones. He prefers watching videos on youtube. He likes animal sounds and he has already learned many kids songs. He has learned how to unlock the phone and find the videos that he likes. He's sitting next to me right now and is looking at his old photos on the iphone.
Cara, the wordworld game let's you drag floating letters on the screen to build a word and then it becomes an animal. There are also videos you can purchase from the itune store. This is one fantastic device, let me tell you, it's my son's favorite toy.
yes, we have the iPod Touch too since we use a blackberry and have access to all the same applications through iTunes.
It's actually great b/c we can download all of my son's Blue's Clues episodes, Yo Gabba Gabba and Wonderepets in case of total meltdowns in public since it's so compact. It will also be our back up dvd player on our 19+ flight home this summer.
Ladies... U have given me a legitimate excuse to get an Iphone now! Thanks! Didn't realise it could be that educational! Good thing Mother's Day is round the corner!
My 2 yr old and 4 yr old love the "Doodle Buddy" app. Basically, just a blank page for drawing and stamping (and the stamps make noises). It's saved many a meltdown in restaurants etc.
we have the ipod touch as well (I use blackberry) my 3.5yr old likes FW Deluxe, you slide the letters around to make the word on the screen and then it spells and says the word after.
if you have a kid who likes to be read to, the curious george series is good. you can even record your own voice reading the stories.
MyName - lets you enter in names that your kid can spell by tapping in the letters in the correct order. the bad thing about this one is that it doesn't say the name after you've spelled it.
i downloaded the wordworld game and it's so awesome!! My 3.5yr old LOVES it!!!
Baffelly, I have 1 itouch that is attached to my canadian credit card so i can download from itunes...the other one that is attached to my hong kong credit card has the same msg, not supported in this country...
Another really great app is Creamy Ice (probably suitable from about 3.5 yrs onwards - my 4.5yr old LOVES it). You get to make ice-creams to your customers' specifications by touching on pictures of a cone/cup/strawberry/choc/vanilla etc. I actually find it good fun for myself too!! ;-)
