intl school students enter local universities

Michelle,

Is there some specific information that you're looking for? I don't think such stats exist on a Hong Kong wide basis.

I have emailed the registrars office at HKU for some more information, as a part of a larger article I'm researching about the educational system in HK.

This information will be extremely helpful indeed since both my husband and I are thinking of sending our daugher to International schools / ESF, when she is young, and local University, at a later stage.

Michelle,

I got your original question answered by Hong Kong University.

Thank you for your interest in our university.

For local school students, they will apply for admission using HKCEE and HKALE results through the JUPAS exercise. Applicants with overseas qualifications (including those taking GCSE/GCEA level exam at local International / ESF schools), they should apply through the Non-JUPAS exercise. The annual intake of students is in Sept and the Non-JUPAS exercise normally starts in Dec with the deadline at the end of Feb. According to last year's figures, 15% of our first year undergraduate students were admitted through the Non-JUPAS exercise.

For more information, you may wish to visit our Non-JUPAS web- site at http://www.hku.hk/ugadm/njupas.htm

This is one of the things I love about Hong Kong .. ask the right people and you get an answer. More than often its the right answer.

Now don't forget to tell the next 50 people you meet, about GeoBaby.Com and GeoExpat.Com ;)
