Insurance - Interglobal vs. IHI vs. Others

Hi,

Sorry to ask this question, but was wondering if anyone has recent experience on choosing a medical insurance provider.

I have been with Interglobal Health for a few years, but am wondering if I should be considering another provider such as IHI.

Anyone with Interglobal and happy with them, and chose them over others?

Is there another medical insurance provider I should consider?

We need something that will cover us globally, and hopefully with no deductible. Coverage of routine exams (dental, medical) as well as extraordinary events would be great.

Premium costs seem fairly similar between the two plans, so the annual cost doesn't factor in deciding which provider to go with.

Thanks for any advice. :)

Thanks for the reply - there is an IHI Bupa and a separate Bupa as well. Wondering if they are related....

Interglobal has been okay (they dont reimburse basic dental though) but I wonder why not too many people use them?

IHI is good - no need for referral to see paediatrician but there IS a deductible.

good with reimbursements...not so good with e-mail follow up though....they basically have everything you need...a bit pricey, but worth it, in my opinion....

Thanks for the reply! Do you find their consultation maximum cost limits enough for HK doctors? Do they generally approve claims with little/no hassle?

Thanks again.

I used to pay for Interglobal for three years. Last year, I had my first claim of $800 when I consulted a private doctor as I was pregnant. I had no more claims after that since I was using the public hospital antenatal care. When my policy was up for renewal, they increased my premium by 150%! I demanded for an explanation and all they said was that it's according to market rate. Of course, I refused to renew my policy. I paid in US$ for three years that covered all countries except USA and they were nice when I had no claim. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I would not recommend Allianz. Everything we claimed for under that policy turned into a big fight. We seemed to know the policy terms better than their own claims staff! We are now with HSBC Insurance and they seem good.

Wow, that is so horrible! I didnt notice they increased the premiums, but then again, their premiums are pretty high (as are IHIs, the two are pretty comparable in terms of cost)...

I would recommend Manulife, they are great and worldwide coverage, pm me if you need a referral.

I've just got my baby a new life plan and we will be moving back to Canada next year and everything will still be valid and 'claimable' anywhere we resite. Plus they have different options and add ons, which make life easier.

i've never had any problems with my claims. I generally them pretty good and the maximum cost good (after premium is met, I get 80% back)...the downfall is that the premium goes up almost yearly....
