Insurance and Vaccinations

Hi All,

I've just found out that our insurer William Russell (which my husband and I had thought was the best out of the lot we were given to choose from by our Kwiksure agent) does NOT cover vaccinations (or any "preventative treatments") for our baby! I was a bit appalled by this as I had thought that mandatory vaccinations would be a very basic thing for insurers to cover but am I wrong? Do any mothers or fathers out there have experience with an insurance company that does cover vacs and if so could you let me know who they are, as I am dying now to switch over. Or is it not common for insurers to cover vacs?!

Thanks so much...

many insurers do not cover vaccinations, but you can get them for free or nearly free from the public system. I am sure someone here can give more info on that...

That's pretty much what my family doctor told me. You can get all the mandatory ones done through the public system for free, or for a much smaller cost... The "optional" ones are all pretty much an out of pocket expense.

Hi Nicole,

Many congratulations!!! :)

We are using Allianz Worldwide. I THINK it covers Vaccination. It is written on the Insurance booklet.

So far, we have not started to do the claiming. Will certainly let you know if we fail to do so.

Cigna International cover all vaccinations, 80% of all outpatient costs and 100% of in-patient costs.
