incompetent cervix anyone?

I am suspected of having incompetent cervix after losing my last baby in 2nd trimester. I'm now ready to try again, after 18 months. It's been a long journey, literally as we've just moved to Hong Kong.

I'm wondering if there's anyone out there with the same problem who can give some pointers on good high risk doctors at Queen Mary (no pregnancy insurance so guess I'll be going public), how best to navigate the system, does it make much difference whether you go public or private there, etc. I've spoken to Irene there who was very helpful but I'd like to get input from someone who has actually gone through this.

Sorry to hear your story. When I was delivering my baby in April, last year, the lady who shared the private ward with at Queen Mary's Hospital had a similar problem with you. she was one of those high risk pregnancy cases and was examined by the doctor there throughout her two pregnancies. there is a Dr Leung WIng Cheong who is an expert in that area and has been my ob for my first pregnancy. he is very kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable and is always willing to give you the best sort of advice. You can ask a private ob to write a referral letter for you to register there. Or you can register as a private patient at the Queen Mary.

I did my cervical cerclage when I was 25 weeks with my twins.

The doctors of high-risk team namely Dr. Leung (sorry don't know the full name) & my specialist Dr. Lam Ka Wai (female) are the expert on this case in the QM hospital. It's a general procedure where they'll do spinal anesthetic and put a suture on your cervical canal. It's only half an hour's operation. And you won't feel anything after the surgery. Of course, there will be some bleeding through vagina for few days, but it's absolutely painless.

I was looked after well at QM for 5 days (which I thought was bit unneccessary) but it was all worth it. After the operation, I had to quit my job and bed rested until the delivery time. My case was bit riskier than yours as I was carrying twins. And luckily, I had a full term (37 weeks for twins) 2 healthy bouncy babies on the 17th Dec. 2004- all thanks to the excellent job they did in Queen Mary Hospital.

My non-ID baby girls-
Isabel Maya Davies (weighing 2.82kg) &
Nisha Kathryn Davies (weighing 2.42kg) are almost a month old today, and they are absolute angels!

I have incompetent cervix and had a miscarriage in 16 weeks .I have a past history of 3 ivfs (the third one being positive and resulting in pregnancy)
I got my IVF from QMH and have a frozen embryo there now.
I am planning to go for next IVF in Nov this yr with QMH again.
Can someone please suggest should I choose private or public doctor in QMH if I get pregnant?
As I am high risk patient I want close monitoring.(I went to QE public last time and they coudnt detect my weak cervix:(
I would really appreciate any help as I am so confused as to which dr will be the best in my case.Also should I choose QMH or any other private dr.
Please help!
