Hi all,

Did you have your babies immunised against...

Tuberkulosis
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
Typhoid

before moving to Hong Kong?

Thanks!

TB - no, it was recommeded to me by my doctor here for my twins, not my 4 yo. Haven't decided yet

Hep A - not necessary for HK is my understanding but recommended when travelling in the region. Plan to get it.

Hep B - my kids got 3 shots in the US already, standard program.

Typhoid - no, wasn't mentioned either.

Both my kids had HepB and BCG upon arrival here. (Plus standard UK ones). Queried Hep B and doctor told me that in a recent study, 1 in 10 were carriers in HK and they were trying to eliminate it.

Before we moved here from the UK, my son (18 months at the time) had already had the BCG vaccination at birth (I think they only give it in London). I also got him Hep A & B. Thypoid isn't needed here.

My daughter was born here, and she has had BCG and Hep B already - she will get Hep A when she is a bit older (currently 5 months).

Hep A isn't on the public clinics' schedule here, but most private doctors recommend it.

In summary, you should get your baby vaccinated with BCG, Hep A & B before coming here.
