I would like to check if my husband can stay with me during the delivery process?

Can any other relative (i.e. mother in law) stay with me during delivery?

do I need to fill in any request form in advance or not?

Pls advice!

Which hospital are you planning to deliver at? Each hospital has slightly different policies, though as far as I know, husbands can say with you once you are in the what they term "active labour" and moved from the maternity ward to the delivery suite. Though husbands are most commonly and easily let in, you can opt to have another person accompany you instead but it can only be one person. When you go in for the delivery, you have to register the person who you want to accompany you and they will then only let that person in.

For United Christian Hospital where I delivered that was the procedure and there was no problem with letting my husband in. I had heard that the person accompanying has to do a course at the public hospital but when I checked at my antenatal appointment they said that was not required. Best to check at your antenatal appointment.

I gave birth at QEH and my hubby was with me in the labour ward the whole time, i don't remember having to register his name for accompanying me in the labour ward! I was asked if I want hubby to accompany me right before going into labour ward and was given a room with one bed only! There are 2-bed rooms and I think husbands cannot accompany you if you are giving birth in the same room as another woman! So it depends on availability! No course needed
