How to teach a baby to sit?

Hi,

Usually at how many months does a baby learn to sit up without support?Any idea on how to teach her and when should i start?My baby is 4months old.Thanks
 
Go buy the book"How to teach your baby to be physically superb" by Glenn Doman....it is a great book and will teach you everything you need to know about child development and how to get your child to the next level
 
Your baby will sit up when she is ready... You can prop her up with a big pillow if you want, but just leave her to do her own thing and she will sit up when she is able to.
 
they usually sit by themselves at 6mths, or whenever she's phusically ready. don't force her, she'll sit when she's ready. every child develop differently, and if she's healthy she'll sit by herself. if you want to ptob her up, once her back is strong enough, you can sit her in a Bubba (i forgot how it's called, but the mom's here will correct me if I called it wrong, they'll know what i'm talking about) seat, which is safe for her back.
 
It's a bumbo seat..but I agree with others, when baby's ready he/she will sit up ..we stressed out a lot over each stage and now we look back and laugh and laugh (bought the bumbo, bought a thingy to help him pull up, things to encourage walking, and honestly now that he literally never stops and just runs everywhere how we wish that we had just enjoyed those stages rather than always trying to get him to the next stage as quickly as possible!! :haha:
 
our son didnt sit properly till he was about 7 months. We did freak out earlier but the dr said nothing to worry and just hold his waist when he is sitting without any pillos etc for him to get used to it. just for 2 minutes. We used the bumbo chair also but he used to get tired sitting in it and moreover i think it makes things easier for them and they should learn to do all these things like sitting , crawling and walking on their own even if it takes some time. Now he 8 1/2 months and already crawling sitting up from sleeping position, standing with support

Babies sit independantly at 6-9 months of age. There isn't anything extraordinary you need to do. As you naturally hold him, he will get stronger and support more of his weight on his own with time. Normal healthy babies will develop just fine in their own time.
 
Agree with previous posters, there's nothing you really *need* to do to teach your baby to sit.

But the best thing you can do to promote natural physical development is allow them lots of "floor time" or "tummy time". Rolling and lifting their heads while on tummy are very important stages which strengthen baby's core muscles.

Best not to prop baby up or use seats. Once they have the muscle strength to manage transitions on the floor, that is when they are physically ready and able to sit.
 
we bought the bumbo for our second, and i'm so glad we did. she gets bored in the same position for any length of time, so we rotate...bouncer, floor, bumbo, rocking chair etc.
she's just turned 6 months and has started to crawl, commando style. she's about 3 months ahead of where her brother was at the same age. he, however, was an early walker. he walked independently @ 10.5 months. i'm wondering when my girl will start...
