We just went to the "How to talk so your children will listen, and how to listen so your children will talk" workshop at YWCA yesterday, and would just like to share a few things please.
The workshop was run by Nikki Green. This English lady is a practising Early Childhood Educator + psychotherapist + Parent Effectiveness Trainer + Mother to an 8-year-old. The class was very interesting, but we were quite surprised to see that there were only 16 parents attending.
Anyway, Nikki recommended one book in particular. It's called "P.E.T." by Dr. Thomas Gordon. She said there are tons of P.E.T. books out there, but this one seems to be the most practical of all.
Nikki will run this workshop from your home if you could get at least 6 people together. She will also run a P.E.T. course for you (about 6 weeks or so) if you'd like. You may contact her at YWCA on MacDonnell Rd.
